This morning I woke up praying. I spent some time reflecting on how much time I spend on social media in comparison to the time I spend with the Lord. Let’s just say my treasure has not been found in him but in the many pretty shined things the wonderful internet has to offer. Don’t take me wrong I have been in the word but it’s been more of a checklist for me the last few weeks as I’ve been building a home and preparing to move. when I am intimately connected to the truth, my treasure, I am most sensitive to follow what the truth says.
This past week at church we talked about repentance, forgiveness and what that looks like and discipline that should be found within our church communities. It’s sad to say that unforgivness is rampant within many church communities, even within my own life at times. Unforgiveness should not be practiced between brothers and sisters. It is contrary to the gospel and makes a mockery out of what Christ did on the cross for you and I. I know so many “Christ followers” that once loved one another but no longer even speak. Who refuse to eat at Christ’s table. He made the guest list. He sends out the invite. We choose to accept or refuse his terms.
This morning as I read this verse I couldn’t help but think of us as an unforgiving people group. How we aren’t supposed to look like the world. But how so often we do.
This past Sunday I posted “may we be found in forgiveness” on my IG account. It was a quote our worship leader prayed with the congregation at the end of service. It honestly breaks my heart to see so many brothers and sisters at ends with one another… as I’m sure it breaks Gods heart even more to see his children fighting with one another. Especially when we consider what Christ has done for us, it should make us quick to forgive, desiring to be reconciled to one another. We forgive in the presence of Christ. With him in mind. With the gospel in mind. It was the men and women of peace that entered into the promised land, and who will enter into eternity with Christ.
The enemy loves to distract, and divide. Praying for all believers this morning that we are not outwitted by Satan, that we stay close to the truth and live the truth!
May each of us be found in forgiveness today! ♥️
